That looked like a Busch series plate race from 1999 or so.. Congrats to Hamlin, and if he has a car like that in the 500.. Watch out.

Found it funny that they said there were alot of passes for the lead.. I didn't see many.. Not ones that stuck, anyway.

Pleasantly surprised by Gordon's performance in the booth.

if the gibbs cars in general are as strong as they all showed, it will likely be a gibbs win for one of them.

as for gordon, i was pleasantly surprised that he did as well in the booth as he did. he still needs a little polish, but he will get better.

24 on the pole again for Daytona 500!

Maybe Chase will be the real deal after all!

Well if this was F1 I would say he has a 95% chance of winning.

And yes he could win but so can the guy who starts last. It's restrictor plate racing, not real racing.

The 24 car is definitely the real deal! hehe Wait for a track that requires a driver to see about Chase.

I was glad to see Chase win the Pole but the last 4 - 500 pole winners have been rather predictable;

2013 - Danica (first female on the pole)
2014 - Dillon (the return of the #3 car)
2015 - Gordon (last 500)
2016 - Chase (most hyped rookie since Jr)

How lucky can NASCAR be to get the most talked about driver or story on the pole each year.. what are the odds?

Nothing different really should be expected. Pole winner from the 500, at least, is always going to come from one of the big dollar teams.

But.. yes.. The coincidences there are somewhat stunning.

My thoughts exactly. Man, I HATE what Brian France has done to this sport.

*GASP* What are you suggesting?!

At least it doesn't mean much in the long or short run.
