Every other major league sport would get laughed at if they honored the team leading at the end of the 1st quarter or honored the team leading at halftime.

Infinity used to be called " Bush Series"

Now the entire NASCAR should be called " bush league "

i don't disagree.. but it appears to me that is what they want.. they are throwing the yellow flag, cutting to commercial and then coming back to interview the segment winning driver and crew chief before the next restart... seems to me like they are putting a pretty big emphasis on the winner of the segment..

We will see but on surface, i am not a fan.

Forget about the racing, I'm looking forward to seeing the Monster Energy pit sluts.

Judging by the percent of empty seats at NASCAR races, you are correct.

Busch! Like the beer.

Yeah I agree nascar wants a 'superduperbowl' at the end of the season. Which is nuts as Daytona is still called the 'superbowl' of nascar by the network, etc because it is. That's traditionally the biggest race for whatever reasons. That won't change no matter what points system they use. Racing isn't like stick and ball sports, and never will be. They need to get that through their heads and move on from those models.

Segments seems really strange and contrived given the length of the race. I gotta think this is a fail. Guess we'll see.

Thanks for the heads-up on tix! Maybe I'll actually go this year. Well, if I can talk someone into going along.

COuld be worse this year.

I know last year about this time, i was looking for (EXTRA) tix for DAYTONA and they were ALL GONE.. well, they were few and far between.. i was looking for 3 side by side... I had to call the tix office and got some on the phone who skowered for a long before finding 3 ADA seats (not really seats but spots for wheel chairs).. that they simply put up folding chairs for guests NOT in a wheel chair...

This year, i just checked the site and there were MANY empty ROWs to choose from...

"interview the winning driver and crew chief "

Might as well have the driver do a few burnouts and take a victory lap while at it.

Got to make winning a ....segment.........real important.

Well, I'm going to PIR in a few weeks so I guess I'll see first hand how this will work out and so I'll reserve judgement until then.

If this is true, then I am moving from "I will reluctantly give it a chance" to "I am dead set against".
