Didn't want to post in the 2015 thread so started this one for the new year.
The family has been visiting the mouse in Orlando the last few months and we have been checking on the progress of the Speedway and it looks quite impressive. Looks like just a few cosmetics and it will be ready for the Rolex.
Kind of mind blowing the amount of money poured into the revamping for three weeks of racing each year.
Not a big diehard NASCAR fan here but really enjoyed following Gordon over the years since his early beginnings.
Should be an interesting year as far as sponsorships, drivers shifting teams, TV availability and the ever tweaking of the package and rules by NASCAR.
If you thought the Chase was a stupid idea - get ready for NASCAR's equivalent of TV timeouts. New for 2016 the Truck Series will have a "Caution Clock." Forced competition cautions every 20 minutes. Good luck trying to get into a rhythm.

Rhythm???????? It just means no matter what happens during the rest of the race, it's going to be a 20 lap shoot out every single race. Who's going to chance racing to the front or pushing through the field if you just need to win the last 20 laps? NASCAR rules are sucking the soul out of racing.
I for one am looking forward to Daytona. I got my hotel but not my race tix yet. With no backstretch, the front stretch tix are more expensive.. most aggravating.. It looks like I will be sitting down low, around turn 4. Can't afford to sit up high unless i go by myself and leave the kids at home..

Get a friend to go with you. Wives and little kids are a PIA . With a buddy you get to drink all the beer you want without somebody complaining.
Tracks continuing to shave off capacity.. Richmond removing all backstretch seating (I was in that seating for the fall 2000 race that Gordon won with the 'platinum' intake or whatever) and I think Charlotte is removing the Diamond Tower Terrace, which was my go-to seating choice there..
Just a note.. Blaney full time in the 21 isn't particularly accurate, though it's not wrong.. Probably more apt to say that the 21 returns to full time competition with Blaney as the driver.

Believed you but had to Google to see it myself..........pretty crazy in my opinion.
Now I am not saying you can compare other businesses to NASCAR but fans are fickle and with younger generation (small percentage) not seeing the need for drivers licenses and the inability to experiment with their cars other than stero mods you would think NASCAR was at a crossroads on the direction to keep the sport revelant.
My machinist apprentices first passion is college football and second is fantasy football and fan duel. They seem to have little or no interest in NASCAR.
Interesting future for NASCAR.
Hope everyone has a safe weekend, this storm has affected many in areas not accustomed to seeing several inches of snow
