C'mon, you just don't like Gordon which is fine, many don't.
I like Gordon as a driver, as a commentator, not so much.

This is where personal bias frames perception. Gordon does a good job not hyping the 24 and Chase. If anything, he hypes Hamlin more, who he seems to respect as a driver. Does Jeff believe Chase is going to be good? You bet, who doesn't? But in no way is Gordon being a hype machine for the 24 or Hendricks.

This is Gordon's first year in the booth. He's still getting his place there. I think he's already done a lot better than Burton and whatshisface (Gordon's old crew chief) on the other telecast. He's more knowledgeable than either and better at picking up on things on the track.

No, I'm no talking about #3 hitting the wall. I'm talking about DW in tears saying "Mikeeeeyyyyyy!!!!!!!!!" when MW crossed the finish line....
or when ned jarret called the two daytona 500 wins for his son dale.

in the end gordon is getting better in the booth, but just like DW and MW, he might take a season or two to get out of race drive mentality and get into announcer mentality. i think in the long run he will do fine.

a lot of drivers turned announcer had similar issues, remember benny parsons?

The difference being is that was a father rooting for a son and a brother rooting for a brother.

For Gordon it's cheering for his former team and for Hendrick Motorsports which he has a financial interest in.

It's not the same as your example.

I can understand that he is cheering for the 24 since it is doing much better this year then it was the last few years.
All I ask is that he lighten up a little, there are 39 other drivers out there.
Mike and Darrel know that.

Can you give him a few months/season to settle into the job? It's not like he went to journalism school or announcer training prior to sitting in front of a camera. He's a former DRIVER learning a new occupation.
Were YOU great at what you do right out of the gate?
I think not...

Yes, I've always been a complainer but now they call that a Curmudgeon.

Default Michigan race

Gordon picked Logano to win so no complaints or criticism here.

Good to see him and Brad talk it out.
