I started watching it when I was younger. I watch it every year. I watch no other race, I follow no other aspect of the sport.
But I am drawn to the INDY 500. I am watching it as we speak. It entertains me as it always has. It fascinates me still. I am impressed and enthralled by it.
I even stopped once, on a road Trip in the middle of the summer years ago. Went miles out of my way, took a major detour, just to see the Track
I got our of my car, found an open gate, wandered onto the track! I was the only person there. No one was around. But it was as though I could hear the cars and the crowd.........................................
Don't know why I am so drawn to the INDY 500 every year. But I am. I enjoy it.
I do not even care who wins. In fact, I feel sad for anyone who does not finish, and I celebrate the joy and the sense of accomplishment for he who does win. Good for him. He deserves it all...the roses, the milk, the trophy. And the thanks and praise from the fans.

Great race for my first time at Indy. I hate gas mileage races but they have become the norm lately.
Had great seats (directly across from pit #1 A paddock) and took some good shots and If I ever figure out how to post them I will.

... in this case, you owe it to yourself to see one race live there...the sensation of them coming around the first time at speed is like nothing you could ever imagine.

i can imagine it, but it still isnt like two top fuel dragsters or funny cars at full song at the 1000ft mark at the track side by side.
Or the unlimited field coming down the front straight at the Reno Air Races at 500mph+.
now THAT has to be impressive!!!
