I still look at him getting about 10 wins, combined, per year, even with the new rules that keep him out of ~30% of the truck/xfinity races at the end of the year.

Is it the same? Of course not. But, he will technically be the 'winningest driver in NASCAR history'.
Touche'

Kyle has started to warm up to many fans that disliked him in his youth. Getting married and having a kid has helped his image tremendously. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves when he does set the record as winningest driver in NASCAR history.

I don't doubt he will. He finally grew up and stopped being a spoiled selfish child. haha That helps. No one has ever doubted his talent as a driver. Dude can wheel it. But he was a king sized jerk for a quite awhile.

So was Stewart. So was Harvick. They all do seem to grow out of it, mostly.

Not going to say the end is near or the sky is falling as I believe NASCAR has a bit of time to reinvent themselves...........but time is running out on their chance to package themselves for the future.

Report: NASCAR to announce points and race format changes Monday

Cameras on pit road, restarts, fuel consumption, tire wear on different track surfaces, green white racing, conservative driving once a team has an early win in the season are just some of the things that I find distracting from the bumping and banging racing of yesterday.......but hey, I am one of the older beer drinking, wrench turning American men that they need to replace in order to survive in the future.

Segments? ugh..
Sometimes i just wish they would leave well enough alone..

How POINTS are awarded during a race or season will have little impact on young fan interest, IMO. The Problem NASCAR has and has always had when compared to other sports is getting younger fans involved. My young son can play baseball, football and basketball at the park and in REC leagues. He has done all of those things and enjoys them.. so he is interested watching on TV and attending those sports.. what he hasn't done is race a car or gocart if you will. NASCAR needs to invest in small, gocart tracks around the country and get younger fans behind the wheel and not just in the stands. Once you get them behind the wheel, its a heck of a lot easier to get them in the stands and watching on TV..

While not the same thing......I can remember going to a Honda Motorcycle event in the really early seventies where you could drive the smaller Hondas, back then as kids we all wanted mini bikes. Up until that time all we had were the homemade or bare basic mini bikes.

As I get older each year, my new batch of Apprentices continue to stay in the just out of Highschool or early twenty age group.

Their only interest in sports seem to be fantasy leagues and college football. I have not really seen the height of interest in NASCAR that we had in the nineties going into 2000.

It seems to me the only sports the younger generation are interested in are those than can be played on a computer.

I have been a racing fan since I was a 10YO and now I am 73. Neither of my adult children are interested in auto racing even though they have been to races at Daytona and other tracks.

You can't force your kids to be fans, they have their own lives to live.
