that was true a number of years ago, but these days the cars are all weighed with the driver so the weights end up equal.

Danica's out at SHR. Since she's already stated she won't accept anything but a top-tier ride, her NASCAR career is probably over.

Danica Patrick won't return to Stewart-Haas Racing in 2018

Worst kept secret in the world.

I'm thinking the driver is going to be Almirola. Smithfield seems to like him and the fact that the deal with Petty apparently came apart once they said they're replace Almirola with Bubba Wallace.. Indicates that Almirola has already said he's leaving.

And, I recall some rumors that Almirola was trying to take Smithfield with him.

Bad situation for the King.. Now, if he and a minority driver (A pretty dang good minority driver, IMO) can't get a sponsor..

Of course.. Almirola was part of the Drive for Diversity program back in the day as well.

Interesting that Smithfield is accusing Richard Petty of lying about having had a handshake agreement.

Danica Patrick is yet to win a race in in the Monster Energy Cup Series. She did not produce for Stewart-Haas Racing, and they are parting ways. She will find a team if one is in desperate need of a driver.

Richard Petty Motorsports' issues go beyond a carousel of drivers and sponsors for the 43.

Petty is unfortunately a dinosaur in a sport where technology and innovation comes at a huge price tag and teams with an endless supply of money are going to continue to survive.

No disrespect to the Pettys, but it must be hard to justify continuing when the financial responsibilities of NASCAR can bleed you dry. In a sport the king has put his heart and soul into, it has now become a corporate conglomerate of survival of the fittest.
