Smart move, save yourself. The sport is dying anyway, nothing near as exciting as it used to be.

Dale Jr is a great guy, I've experienced his humbleness. He still has a long career in ownership, TV, and other ventures. Best of luck and God bless you Jr!

If you listen closely, you can hear the track promoter's butts collectively puckering up after this announcement as the cash cow is leaving the sport.

Best of luck to you JR!!! You deserve it.

Well.....there goes over half the fanbase. Is this the death of NASCAR? It's already hanging by the threads.

Definitely part of the glue that kept NASCAR strong.

For us older fans of NASCAR it is getting harder for some reason to stay interested.

I have said it before in other posts........that while still working in a rather large manufacturing facility in the south we have went from full out NASCAR enthusiasts in the late nineties at work to virtually non existant conversations about cup racing.

Our demographics has changed also where the good majority of workers are between 20 and 30.

College football is the main topic of sports talk at work................NASCAR has some reinventing to do.

Congrats to E on a great career, he was a great spokesman for the sport and his influence and loyalty to his fans was off the charts.

Yep.. He's far more valuable just being around another 30-40 years. Regardless of whether he's a owner or not. Just the ambassador role.

I always liked his interviews after the race.........looking down, looking right or left, adjusting his cap, and trying to get his point across w/o cussing.
