Rain in forecast, NASCAR moves up start time for Sunday's Cup Race

JOLIET, Ill. — Because of a stormy forecast for Sunday, series officials plan to start the Overton’s 400 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series race 14 minutes earlier than scheduled.

The race green flag at Chicagoland Speedway was moved from 2:46 p.m. ET (1:46 p.m. local) to 2:32 p.m. ET (1:32 p.m. local).

Sunday’s forecast calls for an 80 percent chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon with a high of 93 degrees in the southwest Chicago suburbs.

Chicagoland Speedway does have lights should the race need to be delayed and contested at night.

an interesting finish at chicagoland raceway tody where kyle busch came out on top of kyle larson after the two bumped each other on the track. no fist flew, no hating of each other, just the recognition that it was hard racing and that each driver was doing what they had to do to win the race. and both drives though it was a fun finish.

in the end it was a good race overall.

Enjoyed the race! Busch showed little class at the finish line interview, but Larson did. Still, I like KB. I did have a hard time telling which booth guy was talking. Something about their voices, with the exception to Rick Allen, all kinda blended together to me, so I cant say Jr did a good job or not.

^^The voices did tend to meld together. At times I couldn't tell if it was Jr or Burton talking. They need to work on that.

Larson continues to be a class act. Guy is both a good driver and a good guy. Busch on the other hand...haha. If that move is the other way around I would guess it would not go down the same way afterwards and that's a shame. Anyway, that save Larson made was something else!

The lapped traffic, wow. The 31 continues to be a first call jerk. The guy needs to be relegated to last at this point. He doesn't learn that he needs to move out of the way on the last laps. The other 3 cars were even worse. Hitting the leader, who's in a battle for the win, is beyond bad. I know I know, folks are going to argue they are racing to but that's nonsense at that point. Laps downs and 17th isn't much compared to racing for the win.

Charlotte Roval race distance to be reduced

The inaugural race on Charlotte Motor Speedway's infield Roval course layout this October has a new length.

The race, which had been billed by the speedway as a 500 kilometer event, is being changed to a 400 kilometer event, Motorsport.com has learned.

An official announcement of the race's length is expected before Tuesday, which is one of two planned test days on the course this month for Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series teams.

Assuming the course length doesn't change again, that would make the October race 248.55 miles in distance, which correlates to a 109-lap event.

The change would put the October race on par in length with the Cup series' other road course events at Sonoma (Calif.) Raceway and Watkins Glen (N.Y.) International.

What is with the broadcast showing Jr talking rather than the cars qualifying?! What the heck? This is becoming the cult of personality broadcast. I like Jr but dang this is over-the-top. I can see Burton saying forget this and walking away. Maybe the plan by nbc I guess. Who knows.

Interesting finish to the grand national race. One heck of a move by the 24 - too bad he dropped below the double yellow. He had room but didn't use it properly. Sadler can't catch a break. Needs to make the nose of his car longer. lol
