If they didn't want Harvick to win, they could easily suspend HIM for the remaining 2 races but they didn't so that theory simply does not fly. Look they cheated, they got caught, they are not even appealing it which means they know they were cheating.. its not a knock on Harvick or the team, they all try to get a little edge... no big deal IMO..

I know NASCAR is not above any shenanigans especially now when they are struggling to get folks to watch, attend and big COs to sponsor but penalizing Harvick doesn't really help them. Harvick is one of the bigger names with one of the biggest fan bases... imagine how POed that fan base will be at NASCAR if he misses the Championship 4 because of this. if this is NASCARs attempt to drum up some controversy before the Miami Championship race then they are dumber than i thought...

No, I'm talking the old Junior Johnson trick of lead ball bearings in the hollowed out roll cage.. That he dumps on the track after the pace laps.

Agreed on nascar and Harvick deal. There is simply no up-side to that penalty, so a fair cop. All teams do these things and hope they don't get caught. That's racing and at all levels. Fortunately for Harvick, he and his team are on fire this year so he can still get there in the end.

Has Suarez gotten any closer to a ride? Man that's a bad deal for him. He's a bright spot for the sport.

There's alot of talk that Suarez will land in the 41, but it's not a done deal. Apparently he needs to bring some more sponsorship with him. Arris will be supporting him at some level, but not a full season.

It is quite telling that SHR isn't appealing the penalty.. I mean, that's pretty much an admission of "Yep, we were in the wrong completely and totally".. It may have still been an 'honest' misinterpretation of the rules, but..

I really don't think he misses the final round.. But.. Yeah.. It's probably causing some flop sweats that they wouldn't otherwise have.

I don't think its an admission, as much as its theres not enough time to fight it deal to make a difference this late in the season. Im sure they know they screwed up, but to try and fight it now, with only 2 races would be a waste of time.

They have an expedited process for playoff teams. Literally, they could have gotten the penalty on Monday and had their appeal on Tuesday and then the appeal to the National Motorsports something-or-another on Wednesday if they wanted to go that far with it.

it isnt just the appeals process, but the time necessary to do the appeals. that cuts into preparation time for the next race, it also causes a loss of focus.

You send the car chief and crew chief for the appeal. You lose, you don't have them anyway.

its not losing them for the race, its losing them in the time before the race. they are the ones that set the tone, maintain the training for the team, prep the car, etc.
