dont forget that chevy changed body styles at the beginning of the year, so the teams had to figure out what the body style wanted as far as suspension settings, aerodynamics, etc. sometimes it takes a while to do that, sometimes the teams figure it out quickly.

remember when the body style changes, everything in the notebooks goes out the window and you start with essentially a clean sheet of paper. ford will have to go through the effort this season since they are changing from the fusion to the mustang body. we shall see how the ford teams respond early on.

it may be easier for the ford teams since they tend to share information with each other more than the chevy teams do.

i think Ford will do much better early on with the Mustang than Chevy did with the Camaro (if they ever did)... Ford has 2 Championship quality teams in SHR and Penske. Chevy only has Hendrick (Ganassi is close)... so Ford should find the sweet spot a lot faster than Chevy did... of course we wont know until about a month in... Harvick typically dominates that first west coast swing so if he is struggling early on you can bet Ford is struggling...

I am about as juiced about the upcoming NASCAR season as i have been in a while. I am typically excited to start the season, but more so this year than the previous years. I really enjoyed the final months of NASCAR in 2018... I can take stage racing or leave it but the Chase format is fantastic if you ask me and this is coming from someone who has been watching NASCAR since the late 70s, early 80s. I understand some of the arguments about not crowning the most consistent driver as champion each year but its hard to argue against an elimination tournament that rewards those consistent drivers with bonus points as they advance through each round.

Refresh my memory, did Ford change to the Mustang in Xfinity before Chevy changed to the Camaro?

Ford Mustang GT was introduced to the Nationwide Series in 2010
Chevy Camaro SS was introduced in 2013.

The Toyota Supra will begin running in Xfinity in 2019.

I don't know if they have announced a time for Supra in Cup but if the Camaro or the Mustang are guidelines its gonna be a few years.. 2025?

I enjoy Xfinity almost as much as Cup but if the Supra runs better than the Camry there could be some real snooze fest in Xfinity, especially when Kyle is running..

Would seem a bit early with only 1 year in Xfinity but it wouldn't surprise me. I think the Toyota manufacturer has a lot more say in their NASCAR teams than do the other manufacturers... but that is just a wild guess.
