It seems you have to have the right TV provider to gain access to the ESPN3 streaming service. I just had a chat with ESPN and they tell me my DirectTV doesn't allow me to stream ESPN3.

Yes, I tried to stream it via the app on Amazon - you have to log in with your provider and I got the same message. But for only $5.99 a month (on a 12 month contract), I could add it. Ummm, no.

I thought Liberty was going to add their own streaming service, apparently not. Or not yet anyway. I bet it is also more than $5.99 a month....

I really wish I was more optimistic about F1's future but there's just something about Liberty that's not letting that happen.

I'm watching FP2 and surely these commentators are being paid per word.

They remind me of the lyrics from One Note Samba:

There's so many people who can talk and talk and talk
And just say nothing or nearly nothing

Good to see that Leclerc is just as fast as Vettel (although I think Vettel had problems on each of his fast qualy laps). And, hey, Verstappen's Honda-powered car lasted an entire qualy session and might actually be quick!

How much is Williams spending to be dead last and almost over the 107% rule (Kubica was actually 105%).

Also interesting, a look at the difference between the Ferrari and Mercedes front wing and barge boards:

The race should be interesting, Merc took pole but the car still looks antsy in the back end, it remains to be seen how it is on full fuel and whether Hamilton and Bottas can maintain pole lap level of concentration for a full race distance.

Good to see McLaren may actually be back to a competitive level, I hope the engine's been made reliable.

HAAS looking pretty good, 4th in the standings is surely possible and 3rd may even be a possibility.

Looking forward to seeing if the new regs have made passing easier as some drivers seem to think.

Interesting race, the new Ferrari boss must not be feeling particularly chipper about the finish. Great result for Honda, too.

Amusing to hear all the drivers fussing on the radio over the one point for fastest lap....

Looks like "I Love a Parade" might be the theme song for this season.

After a couple of laps, I put my Tivo DVR in Quick Mode where it plays back 30% faster while maintaining proper sound pitch. About 2/3 through I started using the 30-second jump forward feature while watching the standings tree on the left of the screen to see if there were any position changes. There weren't any. Watched the whole race, including breaks to get more coffee, in about an hour.

It was a surprise that the Mercedes #2 driver won. Walked away from the Ferrari #1 driver.

Honda, maybe being competitive with Ferrari, is a good sign.

To make things more interesting, in addition to a "constructer's championship" for those who actually design and build their cars, they should have an "assemblers championship" for the B-teams, like Haas, who merely assemble parts acquired from other sources.

You didnít miss much. I tried to stream it via ESPN3 (the replays mind you, the next morning) and every feed was messed up (qualifying, practice, and race). Non-stop choppiness. Not buffering, just like the feed was skipping every other second. I tried multiple other ESPN feeds for other sports, no issues. Disappointing.
