CHICAGO (Reuters) - Many NASCAR fans think nothing of jumping in their recreational vehicles or pickup trucks and driving 300 miles or more to watch races in places like Talladega, Alabama; Bristol, Tennessee; and Las Vegas.
But rising gasoline prices are forcing them to make tough choices.
The big question here is how long is the economy going to continue downhill? If it keeps going the way it is now those sponsorships are going to dry up once their contracts are up! Don't forget the price of the haulers taking those race cars/truck to each track and driving/flying all the guys that work on the cars at all the tracks too. Oh yes, the price of the fuel for the cars and trucks racing isn't going down either! At least the other sports don't have to depend on gas to perform and they don't need the crews that come along. It's going to be hard on this sport right now........

Fuel prices will indeed become a great problem for NASCAR. The economy is going to get a lot worse before it starts to get better. Save whatever you can now, harder times are coming.
Well I can't believe how many empty seats there were at the Coke400. We also just decided to give up our dega tickets because of the gas prices. $200.00 in gas will take me to see my granddaughter one more time a year.
We have tickets for Kansas in September. Come hell or high water we are going. But I doubt we will be buying season tickets for next year, and since Kansas only sells season tickets...... of course we will probably be transferred from here anyway, but even if we don't take the transfer, no more NASCAR trips for us unless things get alot better.
