I think Kentucky (Cincinatti) is going to get the next Cup date now that Bruton bought the place.
I just worry about at whose expense it will be? Will they take a date from M'ville? Or Pocono? Loudon or Dover? Hopefully the date will come from California since they've already pillaged enough track dates in the southeast.

Probably not from CA...even though the interest in car racing is not big there and they usually don't sell out all the seats. Trouble is the sponsers want CA. The sponsers usually get what "they" want.

Agree with your point on pllaging the SE. However, CW is right on target--sponsors get want sponsors want. And, in today's economy, when sponsors talk, owners listen.

I heard NY. But that was a couple years ago, and not NYC. Like Western NY, like more western than Walkins Glen

I would say they should expand into Denver, or somewhere near there. There used to be Busch series (now Nationwide) races at Pike's Peak International Raceway near Colorado Springs, but that ended after the 2005 season. Other than Colorado National Speedway hosting one or two tour (SRL Southwest Tour or Camping World West Series) races each year, there isn't much touring series activity in the area.
The other place I would like to see back on the map is Bakersfield, CA. Now that Mesa Marin is gone, there hasn't been anything to take its place. It was good for a couple West Series races each year, as well as some of the truck races several years back. If they ever get the new track completed, it would be nice to see these races come back to the area, along with the Southwest Tour (now sanctioned by SRL).
As for the Cup Series, I don't really see any need to expand into other areas.

NASCAR has been a hot topic here in Denver the past 5 years. In that time, Pikes Peak International Raceway has been bought and sold by a NASCAR company. The track has since reopened, but is not able to host spectator events due to the contract that was signed. Basically, NASCAR wanted PPIR out of the picture so that they could pursue a Denver-based track - something that the PPIR ownership fought tooth and nail against, successfully, for years. So NASCAR effectively bought them out. PPIR is now only open for club racing events. Couple that with the fact that the Champ Car series is no longer stopping in downtown Denver, and there are no longer any major motorsports events in the Denver area that could be seen as a conflict.
Now it's just a matter of getting some land close enough to Denver that can be used to build the track. And local government is doing its part to fasttrack the process by proposing bills that would provide incentives for the project:
Colorado House OKs incentives for NASCAR track - Denver Business Journal:
I'd say there's a pretty good chance that a track will be built here in the next 5 years. Denver wants more tourism and NASCAR has shown they want a track here.
