Corrupt Nascar?
Did NASCAR take the win away from Montoya, It was his race to lose and they took it away. I like Mark Martin seem like NASCAR wanted him to win only to have Johnson take it away from him. What do you think?

Montoya had a 5 second lead and he pushed his car to the limit, maybe he was speeding maybe he wasn't but either way he was too aggressive in that situation, if he eased off just a little he would have won.
His fault.

I wouldn't put anything past NASCAR, Carl Long gets caught with a motor .0017 out of spec volume and gets a $200,000 fine. Hornaday gets caught with an illegal placed rear end and gets slapped on the wrist, and then goes on to win his record 4th truck series win in a row.
Mayfield's big crime.....Adderal, do you really think if Jr, JJ, or Stewart were on it, it would come out in public.
No coincedence that JPM just edges Kryle in polls conducted to identify Nascar's most hated driver.

As I have said many times, with NASCAR, anything is possible. I second that about Mayfield. If he were selling millions in merchandise, you would have never heard a word. NASCAR is sometimes very entertaining, however, they are as legit as wrestling.

I'm not into a conspiracy here.
Like it was said earlier, it was Montoya's race to lose. And he did.
I think it would have been a much greater positive story for NASCAR right now to have a former Indy 500 winner, win the Brickyard. Second best story would have been a Martin win, or 88 win.
A 48 win, although impressive, is boring. Doesn't really jump out of the headlines as one of the previous stories would have. Those stories would have helped pushed out some bad recent images from NASCAR including last years Brickyard boondongle, and the recent Mayfield fiasco.
So No, I don't think NASCAR rigged the race, if they did it was a stupid move. If they were counting on the 48 not being a threat, they were wrong.

I guess a conspiracy can be made over just about anything.
The guys I was watching the race with were convinced that Nascar had fixed the race for Montoya to win because nobody could catch him... UNTIL the speeding penalty.
He must have been just over the limit, and his indicators must not have been calibrated correctly so he thought he was ok. Montoya winning the Indy 500 and Brickyard 400 would have been a good story for Nascar.
I vote no conspiracy here.

How about they simple allow for speedometers? I know, I know...it's the way it's always been. Well guess what...NOTHING NASCAR does even comes close to remsembling what stock car racing looked like even 10 years ago. Allow for on board computers and allow the drivers to adjust the fuel/air ratio. And go to fuel injection. NASCAR has changed everything else, so why not this? At the very least, it would make it more interesting to see the drivers adjusting their own cars on the fly. It would make me to actually want to watch the snoozer that is coming up this weekend.

Conspiracy theories such as this have been floating around NASCAR since the day it was formed. Golden boys getting favortism:
Richard Petty's 200th win; With then president Reagan in attendance it has been alleged Petty was allowed an over sized engine.
Jeff Gorden's Brickyard 400 win; Supposedly was allowed to remove ballast from his car in hopes of a storybook win. Up & coming hot shoe wins the inaugural race in his native home state. The other golden boy, #3, won the next year.
Race fixing; unexplainable events that seemingly knock an unpopular driver out of contention or put a t-shirt seller back in contention:
Mystery debris; cautions created to bunch up a field of strung out cars or to change the complexion of the race, perhaps altering the outcome of a fuel mileage race. Every caution prior to this one shows the track crew picking up/ cleaning up debris. No cameras on the track crew during the mystery caution.
Of course the big problem with conspiracy theories is the more people involved the less likely it will be a sucess.

Johnson shouldn't have won. Mark was up their the whole day. It always ponders me when u see Johnson and Stewart be in the back or a lap down and all of sudden manage to come back and finish in the top 10 or worse... WIN. Johnson should've let Mark win. mark never won at Indy. Johnson has.

Same scenario this year, when Gordon was going for his 1st win, Johnson tried his damnest to pass him, even tried to get him loose. Johnson is a bulldog and out to win, he will let him teammates lead a lap for the 5pts but thats about it.
