My SUV is an ULEV, Ultra Low Emission Vehicle. Honda Pilot. As I live in NH, I need the SUV for the snow. A minivan does not cut it. We have another SUV, a Subaru Forester (4 cylinder, AWD) that my teenagers drive. I bet it gets better gas mileage than the limousines some of the liberal environmental activists drive around in...

Those already happen. Those with less fuel efficient vehicles (SUVs, sports cars, limousines) pay more per mile in gas taxes than the Prius driver. As for the incentives, you can get a $7500 tax credit for buying a Volt which is made by GM which is partly owned by the government which gets its money from the taxpayer.

So effing what? As I just posted, need is the least of the reasons we shoudl prove for buying/using something. Until you are living at the bare minimum for survival yourself (and apparently you have a computer. No one NEEDS one of those) you "need" to shut up about what others might want.
2) Meek people who are generally nervous drivers often buy them because of their perceived safety and to be sitting higher up, which gives the impression of control despite it being less safe. These drivers drive them like scared kittens because of their mass and end us driving slow in the fast lane, roaming over the center line because the car is too big and they can't tell, or taking too long to pull into traffic
Damn few meek SUV drivers, then, from what I've seen over the last 30 years... And yes, sitting higher up, with better outward visibility is often safer and provides more confidence. Being able to see over hedges/signs/parked cars/obstacles at the side of the road at intersections can often make pulling out much easier. There have been a lot of times in my car I wished I was higher up to see out better. Only one time I can think of in my Range Rover that I wanted to be lower. And yes, sitting up high with better downward visibility makes it easier to place the car in narrow areas or near curbs.
3) The DO burn more gas, which leads to greater scarcity and higher prices for everyone. Thanks.
Not all SUVs do, though some defintiely do. But so do luxury cars, musclecars and many sports cars. My tiny little 4 cyl MGB gets barely better fuel mileage on the highway than my Range Rover (25 vs 20), but the Ragne Rover is much cleaner (the MGB is old enough to not have a catalytic converter, stock).
4) Some people feel as though they can "bully" others in traffic in a large SUV.
Some people feel they can bully others in traffic in ANYTHING. And if you get pushed off the road by an idiot in a camry, you're still pushed off the road. Do you routinely block the left lane? If so, you're going to get bullied from anything. Drive in the right lane more.
5) they're dangerous to other drivers and their owners. The roll easier, their safety standards are lower because they're truck based. In collisions with normal cars, they often crush them due to their mass.
While they may roll easier than cars, twice as many cars rol over each year than SUVs in total numbers. And in both cases, less than .0001% of the ones on the road rol over. In my 30 years of driving I've seen only 1 roll over, but I've seen 3 cars do so. it's simply not common enough to worry about, and it's usually caused by driver error. No SUV (or car) has EVER rolled over on it's own. And while a 5000 lb SUV may crush a 2500 lb Civic, so will a 4000 lb Mercedes sedan.
And again, less than 3% of all drivers get into accidents each year, with les than half of those being in an accident serious enough to do more than sprain their fingers. being aware of your surroundings will save your butt more than worrying about how big the cars around you are. A delivery van, bus, or contractor truck will hurt you as bad, if not worse, and there are a LOT of them around.
6) It sucks being behind one in traffic. Not being able to see around them adds danger to the already tedious task of driving. Usually they have tinted windows, which means you can't even see through the small ones.
Cry me a damn river. I have tiny sports cars that make even a standard VW Golf into something you can't see around if you're too close. I deal with it. And that's the basic issue: if you can't see around, you're TOOO CLOSE. Do you not drive anywhere where there are minivans, cube vans, delivery trucks, pickups with caps, contractor vans, RVs, busses, semis, etc? There are millions of things that can be in your way. If you can't see around any of them, YOU ARE TOO CLOSE. Sorry, but that's YOUR fault.
7) They're generally american made pieces of crap that lose their value very quickly.
That's something you simply pulled out of your ass. Toyota themselves have 6 SUV models. Then there's Nissan, Honda/Acura, Mitsubishi, Subaru, Mazda, Mercedes, BMW, Volvo, Audi, Porsche, VW, etc.
8) Douchers like you seem to drive them BECAUSE all of these reasons and they get off on pissing other people off. It's like someone smoking a cigar in a movie theater just to be an annoyance.
Actually, I DO like pissing off the ignorant. Since they don't have any working brain cells, it's really not harming anyone.
I buy what I like, and I like all shapes and sizes of cars, from my Range Rover and 3500 series Chevy diesel Dually down to my 1300 lb 1 liter '61 Renault 4CV (that only weighs 1300 lbs). From my old MG Midget and MGB to my 4200 lb BMW 740iL. I don't give a **** what someone else drives, nor should I. And you do, you're gonna get an earfull.

You're pretty angry for someone who drives whatever the hell you want. I'm guessing you're a little man, which probably feeds your desire to be seen in a Range Rover or "Dually". I won't respond to anymore of your insane, foaming at the mouth, raging posts, so don't bother.

Or he could be a Freedom loving American instead of a socialist/communist who wants the government to dictate every detail of our lives.

Wow. I thought it was a well thought out post that refuted each of your points pretty decisively. I guess it just confirms it that you respond with a personal attack.

You're an idiot. Now everyone knows it. You apparently also didn't see the bits about my '61 Renault 4CV or my MGB, bioth of which are small cars.
Just for you, her's teh rangie doing what it does regularly:
It's getting sold and replaced by the dually (that I paid $2800 for) as my family is moving to a slightly larger trailer that will be just above the Rangie's tow rating. But if you want to be a closed minded moron, go ahead.
My MGB:
Don't have any pictures of it asembled as the project is still going on. You can see behind it my Fiat:
Yeah, both of those cars were bought because I have "small man" syndrome.. Again, you're a closed minded idiot that thinks they know something but really knows absolutely nothing, and the more you post, the more you prove it to the world. So maybe you're on the right track in not responding, because anything short of a public apology will prove it more.

Nice vehicles, Merc. The MGB and Fiat reminds me of when I had my Miata; just before I sold it to my brother-in-law and bought my "small man" syndrome Silverado 2500 4x4 diesel.
By the way, love the Dually, too.

This is one of the more amusing things I've read on this forum. Who comes up with these inane threads?
Now that you mention it, you are destroying the planet. Go buy a Yugo.

Probably because you were driving like an idiot.

LMAO! And I can't see around, through or over them. Minivans and trucks don't block your field of vision the way an SUV does.
