If Geely or another Chinese car was introduced in America and met all the safety regs, and met your personal requirements would you buy one? I would probably have to see how they pan out, I would imagine for some a Chinese made car would be a bridge too far. The value would probably be incredible, and they would be hard to pass in that respect.
My guess is the first ones will be about as bad as Detroit cars, but they will improve. That's what happened to Hyundai. If they are reliable, and priced right, I would give one a chance.
I would buy a chinese pickup with a diesel if it was dirt cheap, it would be basic but if it had the functionality and some relability it would be a good farm run around, or dirt bike hauler. Mahindra(Indian) is launching a TD small pickup here that is kinda of the same thing I am talking about.
i was in China recently and they have their own makes ,all sizes big luxury to tiny bug cars ,looked similar to japanese makes, maybe a bit more chrome. i was suprised to learn that old cars are forbidden in China and no motorbikes are allowed in cities. Electric motorscooters were Everywhere ,in the North these had fitted gloves on the handlebars to keep out the cold
