German Car Magazine Autobild Ranks Hyundai #1 In Quality

"Hyundai edged out BMW and Audi in leading German car magazine Autobild’s annual quality survey. Hyundai also beat out Toyota, long considered the benchmark for quality and reliability.

Using owner feedback, recall information and data from Germany’s well known TUV technical inspection agency, the magazine’s yearly report is held in high regard in Europe."

Wow. Gotta give credit where credit is due. Congratulations to the fellas in charge at Hyundai for steering the company in the right direction.

Check out this write-up from Motor Trend about the Equus: Hyundai's Low Equus Production Means Plenty of Exclusive Buyer Perks - Wide Open Throttle - Motor Trend Magazine

They'll bring the car out to the comfort of your own home if you're interested in buying the car. And if you purchase the car and you ever need service, rather than driving to the dealer, Hyundai picks up the Equus and leaves a Genesis sedan behind while they work on it.

Plus the owners manual will come pre-loaded on an Ipad. Pretty slick.

This comes as no surprise to me. I saw it coming 6 months ago.

I have the popcorn ready just in case a slew of BMW bleeding hearts tries to rationalize the situation.

I am surprised by this. I hope it's not one of those things like Motor Trends Car of the Year Award where it seems like a company can buy their wat to the award??

Anyhow, what really surprises me is that Hyundais in my neck of the woods seem to rust prematurely. Do they used salt in Germany?

I don't think that would happen. It's the domestic guys that typically fight tooth and nail to rationalize. I find that people who primarily prefer Euro/Asian makes still like certain domestic vehicles or at least are ok with them in the marketplace while the domestic fan boys automatically decide that everything else is garbage or not worth buying.

As far as Hyundai goes, there is a reason why a few years ago when top execs from several auto manufacturers were asked which competitor they were most afraid of, they all replied that it was Hyundai.

I think this thread is a great addition to the discussion about quality perception.

IMO, Hyundai's most important achievement to date is finding and filming one of the hottest girls on Planet Earth:
