Hi all, I need so help figuring out and making sure I have the right paperwork. I am buying a new car from California and having it shipped back to my home state in Indiana. What all paperwork do I need from the dealer besides the purchase agreement. Has anyone done this before, does the dealer file the title with Indiana? Or will they file a California title?
If you are buying the car new, you shouldn't need any title. They will provide you with a manufacturers statement of origin, probably a title application or a sales agreement, and some other various paperwork.
Not sure how things work in Indiana, but here in Missouri, we just need the sales form/title application, and the manufacturers statement of origin when titling and plating the vehicle.
On another note, is there a particular reason you are doing this instead of just buying a car in Indiana? Shipping can cost a lot. I think I paid around $2000 for a vehicle shipped from east to midwest.
