I'm heading out to the Formula D effect at Infineon Raceway today and am looking forward to another amazing event! I last went in 2008 and enjoyed it quite a bit. The weather seems to be cooperating too with temps in the 80's. I'll try to take plenty of pics but since I'm not bringing the DSLR (too much hassle) I probably won't be able to get any good shots of the cars on the track. Anyone else been to one of these events?

Formula Drift. It was an amazing day out. The winning driver is Vaughn Gittin Jr, driving a Ford Mustang. It really was a monster of a car, it pulled through going sideways with phenomenal speed and precision (plus the driver had major balls, particularly as a chase car). Other standouts include a Challenger (didn't get very far though, looked great and performed well), a V8 350Z, 600HP Saturn Sky, high power Solstice, high power Genesis Coupe, a V8 Lexus SC (top down), supercharged C5 Vette, Nissan GTR, a V8 RX8 and a ridiculously fast RWD V8 Scion TC which got 3rd place. There were plenty of other great cars too. I'll try and have pictures up later today. There were plenty of highlights and great cars including a Lamborghini but I think the most beautiful car on display was a classic GT500. Such a beautiful car!

Sounds like a good day. I've been to a couple events in NJ and while I don't consider it "racing" (to me it's the figure skating of autosports) it sure is fun to watch and definitely takes serious skill.

I wouldn't call it racing either but it definitely takes some serious skill and control. All of the drivers have experience in other areas of motor sports too.

In the second to last picture, the two cars facing either other are actually doing a propeller spin around the center point. It was so cool to watch.
