WOW!
DRUNK?!
SPEEDING?!
AND TEXTING?!

Yeah, she got off pretty easy considering she took away someone's life.

I couldn't live with myself if I did that.

I hope she plans to speak to teens about being more responsible so they won't make the same horrible mistake she did.

Pure ignorance and stupidity. She's lucky to have not gotten a more severe punishment.

Prayers go out to the victim's family. 18 text messages back and forth while drunk driving at 90 mph? Just disgraceful.

The sad thing is that this will probably not deter many more young people from engaging in the same type of behavior. It seems like teenagers nowadays are much more stupid and self-centered than even the generation 10 years ago. Maybe it's due to a pop culture, lack of reading, new-age education system, less parental involvement or all of the above.

BTW, This is coming from somebody who is 28.

That's a given, most people won't learn a thing from anothers mistake, some even won't learn from their own.

9 years? not enough, she needs 20 years, and 10,000 hours community service giving talks on the evils of drinking, driving, testing and speeding.

Also, the weekend before she agreed to plead guilty to manslaughter in June, she was drinking in Dewey Beach and was arrested twice -- once for underage drinking and disorderly conduct and a second time for assault where alcohol was again involved.
Bright one this one is! Right before she's about to plead guilty she goes and drinks some more. She absolutely deserves the 9 years and more. I'm very glad to see that she needs to speak to every high school in the state.

If I read it right, she does 5 years and has 4 more on probation.

A lot worse than Bill Janclow got for running down a motorcyclist at a stop light, and as drunk.
