Yes...they are called RedLines...the wheels and the tires are replicas of what would have been (could have been) on there originally. There was set of Hallibrands on the there, that we had first thought were originals, but turns out they were not. Old, but not 44 yrs old!
Yes, RedLines. We have them on the 68 Camaro as well. They look super sharp on the cars especially red cars.
What's going on with the carbs? Since you say carbs, I am assuming it's tri-power, right?
Correct...tri-power. She was running really rich....DH took them to the "Guru of Carbs" as he is known in the circle....some guy known for his work....doing race cars and such....He was checking them out, and cleaning them all up. I think some gaskets of somekind were all dried out and needed replacements. We're suppose to pick them up on Fri.
Doug Roe's book on Rochester carbs has a lot of good info in it. If it was a Quadrajet carb, I would suspect the casting plugs (like "freeze" plugs, but smaller) were leaking. I don't recall if the 2-bbl has the same or similar, but they probably do.
Did you get the Redline tires from Coker Tire?
The eternal question of where to be "authentic" and where to use modern technology - I think I would go with what you have on the car for "show" but would get a 2nd set of wheels and put some more modern-compound and tread tires on them.
I personally am OK with updates on wear parts like tires, batteries, spark plugs, etc. My MG-B has a single 12V battery for example - all the cabling not used for the authentic 2 big 6-V batteries is neatly wire-tied up out of the way, but it's there, so if the next owner is a purist he (she) can put the authentic (but heavier and generally worse-performing) batteries in.

Plugs are in the metering rod well for the secondaries in a Quadrajet. They are not on 2bbl Rochester carbs. If you need to fix the Quadrajet use JB weld to cover lead plugs.
