In April 2001 I visited the NY City Police Museum just to see the 1972 Plymouth Fury I restored Police Car.

One thing I always wondered was, how on earth did they get that car into the museum? I think i took the elevator up to the 4th floor for the museum and i entered the Fury exhibit through several doorways to see the car

It certainly could not fit in the elevator at at least 219" in length and at least 4000 lbs, they couldn't lower in onto the roof and slide it in because it was only the 4th floor, so how does it get there on the museum floor? Do they rebuild it there and take it apart when the exhibit is over?

the museum has moved to another location close by not sure if the car is even there now

I'd say there is a service elevator in that building that is unseen by the public. The kind used for moving office furniture and big stuff.

Haven't been. Last time I was in NYC was 2004. But, I do remember all the bellyaching about the funding for the museum. His Honor Rudy was in some hot water.
