My big butt and thighs really hate the seats in most fords, the way the middle indents ... it cuts off my circulation. My dad has the same issue so whenever he ends up with a ford, he takes it to an upolstery place and has them put in just enough foam to make the seat level ... then it is super comfy!
Right now I have a 2002 nissan sentra and the seats are sooooo uncomfortable ... but I recently had a 2009 sentra as a rental and it was much nicer!
I had a rental car a few months back when I was out of town and it was a 2010 Mazda 3 with the standard vinyl seats and it was awful, it gave me alot of pain and was way to narrow, but my friend has a 2010 mazda 3 with leather and its much better.
Probably the worst I've been in is a base and I mean BASE model Nissan Versa. Any car that has "additional foam seat padding" on the option list is bound to have bad seats, especially when that box isn't checked.
Absolute best by far were the seats in my 2004 Pontiac GTO. For whatever reason Aussie's make damn good seats, people even fought over who would sit in the back, because the rear seats were even better than the front.
My wife's '03 Honda CR-V...besides being a 3rd world car, at best, it had very short bar stool-like fanny cushions that forced one to "perch" rather than sit, and front leg room for little people. It also had short swing down arm "rests" that were nothing more than elbow points. Her new Hyundai Tucson is like a limo, by comparison. In 47 years of driving, that CR-V had the worst seats I've ever sat on, imo.
At 135#, and in very good physical shape, almost anything is pretty comfortable.
However, the seats in the Nissan Z are probably the worst seats I have experienced in recent history. Easily tolerated by my lightweight frame, but poorly padded and poorly upholstered for a daily driver. Maybe the new generation Z is a little better.
Edit: One of my Audis would cut off circulation to my leg if I drove with my wallet. I don't know what it was about that specific car. The other one didn't. No other cars have done this. However, I found the seats extremely comfortable. Never did figure out the wallet issue.
Subaru Forester... I have not been in the 3rd gens but judging by the first two I am sure they are not any better. Had to take one of these cars 3000 miles cross country and it was NOT comfortable. Would also have to give a vote to Corollas.
An obscure reference to one of the more comfortable seats I have been in is the ones in my buddy's '89 Ford SHO... They really got them right.
well one good thing is recaro, corbeau and sparco make great sport seats that bolt right in to most car applications for a little bit of $$$ and the offer great thigh support and lateral support.
