he has a real high tech scanner. It sounded great, then he checked it again after he adjusted something not related to the timing, started it again and got the code.

If your oil was contaminated with coolant i hope the problem was fixed and the oil and filter changed as coolant makes for a crappy lubricant and if its mixed with the oil and not changed the coolant/oil mix usually destroys the main bearings quite rapidly.
