2001 Nissan frontier.
I recently had to get the water pump replaced.
Since then,
Whenever I turn on the Air Conditioning, it makes a hissing sound for a long time, and then it does not blow nearly as cold as it used to.

Could they have bumped something when installing the water pump? Or could that job have affected the A/C in some way?
thanks for any info.

should have no effect on it unless they had to remove the compressor to install the water pump. Your in fla.. it is a bit cooler down there now and ac will not work in cooler weather as well.

Ah. I was wondering why someone was complaining their A/C wasn't working at this time of year.

Now it is WORSE.
it only blows a bit of cold air (with the hissing sound) when I start the engine, then it gradually gives out and just blows the fan only without any cool Air.
I HOPE the A/C is not completely shot!

might have a small leak in the system and it could just a be a gasket or leaky condenser get it checked and the system re-charged and you should be good to go.
