I'm thinking about going and I never been to an auto show before. There selling tickets for a private tour which is 2 hours and you get early access to the show. Its $50 for 1 ticket for the tour.

I just need someone to tell me what its like and if they took one of those tours.

I go almost every year and always have a good time because I'm a car enthusiast. I never went on the $50 tour but always make sure I get there ahead of time to see the show right when it opens. No matter what by noon the place is always crowded and it gets hot in there. Weekday would be the best time to see it in terms of crowds.

The Auto Show is one of the things I miss the most about living in NY (Detroit too).

I don't know about the tour (sounds cool) but my only recommendation is to take a day off and go during the week. Enjoy.

When I lived in Michigan 10 years ago, I would go to the North American Auto Show in downtown Detroit every year. What a freakn' blast. Where else can you sit in every automobile to get a feel for them....well almost...most exoctics are ropped off ;( I remember only paying $10-15 for admission though. I don't need a tour!

I've been and would recommend going, but I don't see much point in the 'tour' tickets.

Default yes, in 1978

when NY did not have Disney and the murder and crime rate was highest ever

it was at the NY Coliseum which is now Time Warner Center

I assume they hold the show now at Javits Center

I went on a class trip in 1982 when it was at the Coliseum. I remember a guy picketing outside because of his lemon diesel Oldsmobile LOL.

I go every year. Not worth it. Word of advice.. try to go on a Tuesday and be there right at opening. The lines to get in on Easter/weekends can be excessive.. I gave up (I had gone the day before).

In 2 weekends I am flying to Detroit to see the Detroit Auto Show.

Other Auto Shows I've been to: Toronto, Sydney..

Auto Show I want to go to: Paris

Yup Im a car guy
