Quick question: Is this the first year of the 5.0 Coyote engine? Is anyone not concerend with the durability of this engine given it's a new design as well?

this year. The reason I know they are very strong cause they are raced and stock engines are making 700 hp with modifications and staying together..

This isn't proof the engines would do well in a truck for years and years. Race engines are regularly torn down and rebuilt. They usually have different oiling systems, sturdier internals, etc.

The base V6 is NOT a non-turbo version of the Ecoboost V6. The base is a 3.7L V6, a newer version of the Duratec V6s Ford and Mazda have used for years. The bore and stroke are different from the 3.5L Ecoboost engine.

Just for reference, the Ecoboost V6 absolutely blows the 5.0 away for usable torque.

i wouldnt be concerned with the durability of the coyote engine as it is loosely based on the 4.6 mod motor, and that engine has a solid reliability record.

I understand what you wrote. A modified stock engine "stayin together" is a good piece of data on a small scale. But it doesn't prove the engine will last a long time in the hands of ordinary consumers who aren't so meticulous about their vehicles.

actually its a wonderful way to see how a motor will fare over time.. You stress an engine racing it and you will see parts that will fail. No parts failure means a stock motor will last quite a long time
