Default 2002 Pontiac Sunfire - How to get to the license plate light?

Hi all, quick question:

I was recently pulled over because my license plate light is out on my 2002 Pontiac Sunfire. I've been trying to figure out how to get to the bulb to change it. Where is the access point?

(Sorry, I'm really bad with cars, but any help is appreciated! ) Surprisingly, none of my Google searches have turned up any answers or manuals.

Thanks,
Janna

If I remember, you access it from the trunk and need to pull back the trim in the trunk and then you should be able to see the wires and plugs. They use expension plugs, so you need to squeeze them and they should slide out.

Take off your license plate and then remove the 2 screws that hold the lamp assembly to the trunk lid. Remove the assembly. Twist off the connector and remove the bulb. You maybe able to remove the connector with long needle nose pliers and replace the bulb without removing the whole assembly.
If this is a GT then the entire rear lighting assembly has to be removed to replace that bulb
