Hello city-data..
I was wondering if you guys could lend me some more advice.

I will be graduating from Lincoln tech in 2 mos for automotive technology and looking to get into mechanical engineering later this year.

I was wondering what were some automotive social outlets such as meets, clubs, groups, social events etc etc organized or not.

This year I'm pursueing to become an automotive technician after I graduate LTI while going to college.

I live in windsor, ct and willing to commute up to a 200 mile radius this year and explore to see whats out there.

I'm into drag strips, car shows, races, anything automotive.

I would really like join something and be apart of a group though .

Favorite brands are Ford, Nissan, BMW, and Jaguar.

Most cars have clubs associated with one model. Even if you drive an old escort you can still find people who own them and like them so much they have an owners club and or forum, The forums often tell of social meets etc.

Find a car show in your area...once you do that, most car clubs advertise their perspective clubs and up-coming events. In our area, we could hit a show every single Fri, Sat. and Sun. if we desired. Some are street events, while others are benefits for a Cause. Clubs: We belong to one that is just generic...just a bunch of people who love getting together and go on "cruises". The other we belong to is car specific.

PS...Have no idea if this is near you or not....But Cars and Coffee events are huge across the Nation and a good place to meet people and groups of like interest.

I belong to a local club here in NJ and it is just one of many in my area. Most clubs tend to be centered around single makes/models. If you hit up forums for certain makes/models they pretty much all have regional sections for people to talk and post up events and things. I would just hit up some of them and see what they have to say. Also, some places in the summer (at least around here) have large ongoing regular meets that are pretty much a variety show type of deal. Hit up some of those and you are bound to find some like minded people.

Online forums would be your best bet. If you have a particular favorite kind of car, there's undoubtedly a forum for it through which you can meet some local folks. I'm a member of several forums dedicated to vehicles that I own or have owned and find them to be a great place to meet like-minded folks not to mention the wealth of information. In fact, some of my best friends are people I met on a forum I joined years ago back when I owned a Ford Focus.

If you're not into one particular car but more into a certain genre of automobile or racing, you can likely find forums for that as well.

Another option would be seeing if you can somehow partner up with the local university's SAE program. Don't know if that's possible or not, but those guys are always building stuff, which is pretty fun.
