Default Why is this car so cheap?

I saw on craiglist a ford mustang 2006 with 85K miles on sale for $6500 i already contacted the seller he gave me the address to go check it out and when i googled the address a dealer came up.

The mustang is autamatic in great conditions it looks like new. Aren't these cars worth like 11K+ so why is it so cheap.

Is there a catch to this? plz help!

$8800 is your average cost for a basic 2006 mustang according to NADA so it must be in pretty bad shape or been wrecked to be offered at $6500.

The key words here is "Craigslist" and a super low price. It is most likely a scammer from Nigeria asking you to pay with Western Union to a supposed Ebay agent.

Thanks for the reply's!

It's a V6 the car runs perfectly and everything seems to be okay.

And no ebay payments the guy who's selling it has his own dealer also. He gave me the address to meet him tommorrow so i can see the car in person.

Should i go for it? what should i be aware of? at this price there r so many questions in my mind and i don't know what to do. I really can't afford anything above 7K so i feel like this is my only chance.

Go see him. What difference does it make? It's not an obligation to buy. Most likely though, that price is just to get you in the door, then either he doesn't have it, it's already been sold, that's the finance price, you must have so-and-so discount, etc. When a deal seems too good to be true, well.....

Lots of scammers on craigslist (lots of very legit deals too.) You say "the car runs perfectly and everything seems to be okay" but you haven't seen the car, right? That's just what the seller is saying - for all you know the car doesn't even exist. People can say anything online or over the phone. You have to keep your BS detector very, very high to avoid getting scammed, just use common sense.

Get the VIN and a CarFax report. And an independent evauation by a good shop.

While it looks to be priced to move, IMO you're way overestimating how much a V6 Mustang of that age and (especially) mileage commands on the used car market in a private-party sale.
