This is largely a myth now. BMW's are quite reliable. Even Land Rover has gotten much better.

I do not own a Range Rover, but I have found RR's suspension to be tailored more toward comfort and off-road ability than cornering agility. The last RR I drove rode nicely and well-controlled, yet it was un-inspiring around turns. Putting the suspension to its lowest height setting actually worsened the ride and the handling, and made the truck bounce over bumps. Aside from this and the poor acceleration (it was a 2009 HSE), the truck was very nice to drive.

I've had 3 Range Rovers, and they were all reliable drivers, with the last being used to go all over the east coast, and tow a travel trailer.
