We have been looking, finally found a good condition used Prius, 2010 w/ 43k, it was $19,900 not including the 3% tax. Seemed like a decent deal as everything we've been looking at was well into the 20's, and new are in the mid-20's, and around here a 2 month waiting list, so no negotiating.
Of course, different areas of the country will have a different market, but here in NC they seem to sell like hotcakes.
I got 59.2 MPG on my 7 mile test drive (mostly highway). Wife got 49.5, I'll have to teach her how to drive . We are excited, this is our first "new"-ish car.
Good job, the Prius is a reliable vehicle, and if driven correctly, and the right fuel you can average 50 mpg. Do not let these haters, and these posters who don't not care about efficient driving get to you. They are going to get what is coming to them. Sooner rather than later. Good deal though, what Prius package was it(2,3,4 or 5)
2010 Toyota Prius II $19,988 - Westgate Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram Raleigh North Carolina 27617 (http://www.westgatejeep.com/vehicle/3378337/2010-Toyota-Prius-II-Raleigh-North-Carolina-27617 - broken link)
We figured with gas prices at their current level, over 10 year operation of the car, we would save around $14,000 in gas over the next runner up which was the 2011 Sonata. That is money that stays here in our pockets and doesn't go overseas. Win/win for everyone . Also we liked the utility aspect of the car with the rear hatch.
+1 vote for the Prius. I used to be a former owner of one and I tell you its a very nice ride. Plus its been rated pretty high in crash tests. With the gas prices as they are it will pay for itself pretty quickly. Just try not to draft behind a semi.

This commit has me a little concerned and creeped out...are you threatening people? I would really like some elaboration on this one.
As for the Prius, it's not for me but it is a great car. The fuel economy is one thing but it's also a very reliable vehicle which is a huge plus in my books.

The main thing to worry about is the warranty. 43,000 miles for a one year old car is an insane amount of miles.
Yes, a lot of miles for its age, but as a whole not a lot of miles. My car has 175k (which I'm keeping) and the wifes has 140k so miles don't really phase us.
I remember back in '99 I bought a 4 year old Nissan Altima w/ 77k on it for $5800. Drove it to 150k and sold it for $2600, and the thing is probably still going .
Warranty is really only as good as the product, if you have a great warranty but a crappy product, is that a good thing? Or a great product with no warranty? Which is better?
The batteries and hybrid drive system are warrantied to 8 years/100,000 miles and the engine is warrantied to 5 years/60,000 miles. But honestly, I would expect to get 150k out of this car easy as that is past precedence for them. So the warranty, while nice, doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot to me.

I know what you mean. My 1991 Ford Escort has 150,000 miles on it. If it had 43,000 miles a year, it would be up to 860,000 miles by now.
