well, car i was looking for sold, so its not on the table anymore. but what i dont get is that he told me sales tax is included in the price he gave me. he quoted me 42,058 all fees and taxes included. thats 458 above the truecar number. however, truecar says they dont include sales tax in that number. thats a much bigger number. so i dont know how thats possible. i wonder if he was bsing me only to add it later. im going to call him on my way home this evening and ask.
ok, i figured out the ales tax thing. apparently, the total number he gave me didnt include sales tax and fees. it was the monthly price he quoted me that included all that. its not really how i wanted it presented but i suppose it wasnt dishonest.
i stopped off at another dealership. this time i told the guy that i owe about 13k. i also threw in that if i couldnt get that i may put off the purchase. magically, my car is now worth about 13k. he didnt give me a solid offer though because i made the mistake of mentioning that he didnt have a car i am interested in. i went there with a specific car in mind from checking their inventory but it wasnt there.
