Sounds like it would be a good idea to use the gas mode occasionally, so the fuel doesn't go stale.

They thought of that, and there's a program inthe car that runs the gas engine occasionally (based on time since it was last used) in order to use the fuel before it goes bad. Even if you ONLY use EV mode, it will run the engine enough to use up a tank of gas per year.

Oh, and for anyone contemplating a test drive, just for fun and information...

If you go, remember to:

1) make sure the car is charged (so many aren't) and then

2) drive for a bit in mormal mode (default) and D. Then put it in Sport mode and Low gear (they drive all the way up to 100 mph in low gear). Feel the difference in torque delivery for throttle position, and engine braking in Low. Punch it repeatedly from about 15-20 mph. Giggle a bunch. Seriously.

Id mght still think about using sta bil or other addiditive if its really taking 3-4 months to go through a tank. And FILL less. U.S. gas is such crap these days.. Ive had it go bad on me in barely a month!. More than once... If its gonna sit for more than 2-3 weeks I always use sat bil now. Everytime I go to Baja my bike AND car runs like a raped ape on their fuel compared to the crappy U.S. fuel. All my motors run better on regular Mexican gas than on U.S. premium.

U.S. fuel is so crappy, finicky, and variable depending on region etc. that most manufacturer proving grounds fuel depots stock well over 20 dfferent varities, ie regions/seasons etc. for their daily testing programs.
