85 CJ7: nothing. Born and remains perfect, though now in the care of a friend.
85 Cherokee: Ill advised roof modification involving a sawzall.
91 Cherokee: Nothing, but the body vanished into thin air at 350k miles.

Nice rig. An inch or two in tire height makes you rig far more capable. Post up on the Wrangler forum on Jeepforum or Pirate4x4 and see what the max is you can go without a body lift. Does it have a rear locker? Posi? I can't recall what kind of two hooks that thing has in front. Is that a 2" Class 3/4 receiver in the rear? Get a strap shackle for it. Probably need to switch out the lights in front. I'd think about a Warn front bumper like Daryl has below. Oh I see you are switching out the lights. One other thing. I don't recall the name of the maker, but those form fitting interior floor mats that are sort of plastic covered foam are a big help in winter and mud. I have them in my K2500 so I'll see if I can get a brand.
Well, here is what you are shooting for. My buddy Daryl's Rubicon:

I have a 2007 2-door. It's a manual 6-speed "X" model.
Mods:
2.5" Teraflex Lift
16" soft 8s
33" Dick Cepek FC IIs (more of an all-terrain, since I drive in the city, too)
Rugged Ridge stinger bumper
soft top (came with a hard top, so now I have both)
MyGIG/in-dash nav (got it fairly cheap from a Chrysler minivan)
rock rails from a JK Rubicon

I had a 1979 CJ7 for 10 years. Bone stock with 4.0L and three speed stick. Truck never stopped for anything but gas stations. The straight 6 had plenty of torque for the rock climbing I did.

I've had 4 jeeps:
97' TJ (no mods)
74' CJ5 (lift and 34" tires, plus "Flintstone" floorpan for when it broke down )
02' TJ (4 banger, 2" lift and 32" tires)
11' JKU (the jeep I have now, no mods yet until I can get some $$ together for a 2" lift and 33" tires.)
Jeeps are 'effing expensive.

I had a '96 Cherokee 4x4.
When I bought it for $500, it had about 213,000 miles, an overheating problem, and a take-a-shower nasty interior that didn't clean up all that well. I replaced the radiator, changed a leaky oil pressure sensor, did a bunch of other long-neglected basic maintenance, bought some new tires, and called it good. I figured I'd just sell it for a very modest profit, but when I was done, I was somewhat surprised that despite a lifetime of indifferent maintenance, it was still safe and solid. I found myself really liking that little truck, so I kept it for myself.
It wasn't a daily driver, just a truck for snowstorms, hauling stuff, and all-around back-up vehicle. I also lent it out to family and friends if they asked.
After a few years, a battery, a starter, an ignition lock, and a power steering pump, it had close to 240,000 miles, and it was still doing fine. However, rust was starting to take hold everywhere, and it still had that stained, dirty-looking interior. It obviously wasn't worth very much money--it's utility value to me was worth more than any reasonable person would pay for it--and I wasn't trying to sell it anyhow.
In the mean time, I was starting to think about replacing my primary car, an aging Honda Accord.
When cash-for-clunkers came around, and my Jeep was suddenly worth $4,500 toward any new car rated 10 MPG better, well... Let's just say I took the bait. I drove that Jeep to the dealership, let them take it to the crusher, and drove home in a brand new Honda.
It was a purely financial decision. If not for C-4-C, I'd likely still own it.
Sorry, Jeep lovers, but that's what I did to my Jeep. (I'd buy another though.)

What a sad sad story. An utterly obtuse and defective economic policy that would send your nice truck to the crusher when there was likely some person who would have been tickled to have it for a thousand or so and a cash rebate would have been just as effective to send you to the dealer.
Our government is run by idiots.

That may all be true. Two things though:
1) The truck was not nice;
2) I made out like a freaking bandit!
On edit, yes, a rebate or something would definitely have worked, but part of the program was to reduce the relative number of gas guzzlers to more efficient vehicles, so at least the environment scored a point.
