The digital dash lights & radio on my 90 Tbird dont work. All the fuses are good incl under the hood next to the battery. I did have a then new stereo unit installed but that was back in 2002 so the wiring is good. The battery is good & everything else (besides dash lights & radio) works fine. Any ideas ? Thanks.

I rechecked the fuses under the hood & it was just a 5 amp fuse. Problem fixed. A neighbors mechanic friend wanted to charge me $50.00 to find & fix the problem. He already knew what the problem was without even looking at the car. Im glad i double checked everything cause sometimes i dont. I will though for now on.

A good deal at your end and, yeah, a little reminder there to check the simple things first. If that fuse blows again though, you have a different problem on your hands. But I'd guess you already know that.

I would install a 10 amp fuse. Im going to sell the car "as is" this spring or summer.

I suggest that you ask Santa to bring you a fire extinguisher to go along with that 10 amp fuse.

Great advice.

Then, when your car catches fire after the fuse fails to blow and the wiring begins to melt, I suggest you carry a can of gas in the car to extinguish the fire with.

I read on a ford forums website that a few people had the same problem & they fixed it by replacing a 5 amp fuse with a 10 amp. I checked the car today & no problems so far. The dash lights & radio work fine.

i have the same exact problem. but it didint happen on it's own, i did it by touching my aftermarket cd player with a tool while it was on, and it sparked and blew out my dash and radio. And i checked the fuse to the radio and it was burnt and then i replaced it but its still not working. after that i knew it was something worse, so i checked the fuse box under the hood and the instrument panel socket is burnt, but i cant tell if the fuse is. But my main question is will i have to get a whole new fuse box or can i just splice something together

You probably have a greater liklihood of winning the lotto than starting fire by going from 5 amp to 10 amp fuses.

BTW, you are more likely to become president of the united states than you are to win the lotto.
