When I saw the Solstice, Ariel Atom and Ferrari 612 Scaglietti on this list, that's when I knew it was specifically designed to court controversy, which was my cue to stop reading it.
Those lists...they used to have a column called "The Mechanic" which was an op-ed piece designed to stir everybody up. I think this is just the same thing. Once I read the thing about the Pontiac, I knew it was going to be a bad article - well both Pontiacs actually. The Solstice, I thought was a decent car and having staggered tires on the GXP, is just that, an engineering necessity. Lots of RWDs come with staggered tires so why is it such a big deal on a FWD with a lot of power?
Anyone, once I got to about 10 cars that had no business being on that list, I stopped reading it just scanned over the rest.
I don't know who made this list, they must be out smoking crack or something...
100. Pontiac Solstice, sure it may not have "saved" Pontiac, but it definitely didn't hasten its death and was a very positively reviewed and loved car, especially the turbo versions.
95. Grand Prix GXP, agree wholehearedly that while it may not have been a "great" car, the tire arrangement was actually rather interesting and made the car far more stable and less prone to torque steer, it was an interesting engineering/cost compromise to deal with the torque steer.
94. Areil Atom, please, no one who likes cars looks down on the Ariel Atom.
93. Vector W8...90. Saleen S7...89. Ferrari 612 Scaglietti...whose writing this crap?
74. 280ZX, OK, not the greatest Z-car ever, but hardly a bad car.
70. 1953 Corvette...someone was seriously hitting the crack pipe before they wrote this.
43. Mercedes 300SD, seriously?
33. Suzuki Samurai, may not be all that great, but it certainly found a niche with the offroaders.
31. 1975 Corvette, agree with sailordave, not the best Vette, but hardly a bad car for that era.
27. Malibu Maxx SS, OK, I'll give you that the era of SS-everything was a diminishment of the SS badge, but the Malibu Maxx, especially the SS model was a well liked car and got sterling reviews.
24. Ford Taurus, it was one of the top selling and rated sedans on the market for a long time.
16. Ford Pinto, OK everyone knows about the Pinto, but with the exception of the gas tank thing, it was a very advanced compact car.
1. Pontiac Aztec, sure it was ugly, but it was also an incredibly versatile car and one of the first true crossovers. It was released at the height of the full size SUV craze and the styling certainly didn't help it gain any fans. I also find it hard to believe that it killed Pontiac.
-Obviously the 1953 Corvette doesn't belong on this list. The 50's Corvettes were instant icons and nothing like the azzclown mobiles they are today.
-How can the 2007 Malibu Max SS be the "worst car to ever wear a chevy badge"? It's not that bad and only been around for 4 years.
-1980 Trans Am was a beautiful car even if the engine was underpowered. Stupid to have it on this list.
-Ford Pinto rated better than the Vega? The Pinto was horrible. The Vega at least was a decent looking car. Both were garbage.
-Yugo should have been #1
-Pontiac Aztec should not be #1. Mechanically they were a good car and really, GM invented an entirely new vehicle with the small cross over SUV. Tell me the Aztec is uglier than a Hoonday whatever you call it or a KIA Crapento. There are multiple cars in this class uglier than the Aztec.
I would say overall this is an arrogant, uninformed article that seems to have been written by a mean spirited adult-child.
#85 VW Fox: Pure BS! Three of the best cars I ever owned were foxes. Well made, handled well, fun when revved up, tight gearbox. The '88 wagon I bought for $900 had a ton of cargo space.
I have to say that I hated the VW Fox so bad I think I got angry at the sight of one. They reminded me of something you would drive in the Soviet Union.
So did you go Trabant hunting when you wanted a race?

Haha it's probably the only thing I could've beaten. Though it would have given my old Subaru Loyale a run for the money. I loved my fox.
I actually saw about 6 trabants at an arts festival here this summer:
Awesome. The little Trabants are not that bad a car to look at. They have some character.
What they lack in fuel pumps they make up in character.
Seriously, the fuel is gravity fed, from directly above the internal COMBUSTION engine.
One of the owners also showed me the compartment under the hood where all Trabi owners keep their starting fluid.
I actually smelled these Trabants before I saw them. I thought "hey, it smells like some 40 year old boat motor just got started for the first time in 10 and it's running rich!!"
