Here in SE MI there are still slight preferences even by neighborhood. Where i grew up (within walking distance of GM Tech Center but Ford and Dodge Truck factories nearby) my subdivision was half GM, quarter Chrysler, quarter Ford, with a Subaru and a Volkswagen or two. Another subdivision almost a mile away seemed to have a lot more Fords. Where I live about twelve miles away there is no preference at all. My housing tract even has a goodly number of foreign cars. Where I work, about eleven miles away, is a big Chrysler area, but GM is also well-represented. Ford is a distant third, but still plentiful. There aren't many Japanese cars, but a few VWs and a number of Kias.
