Like Hudson, the probable reason why Kaiser's sales lagged and they went out of business, was their failure to develop or adopt a V-8.
In most cases, as the horsepower race got into full swing in the early '50s, manufacturers with only six-cylinder engines soon developed V-8s .
Those who were still using straight-8s, soon replaced them with more modern V-designs.
The companies that did not develop or adopt V-8s were the ones that went out of business in the '50s.
