Scion FR-S
Reading the specs on this car, I can't believe they didn't call it a Celica. Based upon styling, RWD, and engine it would be the best Celica Toyota ever built. Would it also be possible for them to stretch the length/width, drop in a more powerful engine, make it AWD (since it was co-developed with Subaru), and call it a Supra? The Supra could be priced to compete with Camaro, Mustang, Challenger, and Genisis Coupe. Toyota already has a super car in Lexus. Waiting to see the base price of the Scion. If priced low enough, get rid of that overweight, underpowered tC.

I'm glad they didn't call it a Celica, as it is actually a Subaru. It uses a Subaru boxer engine and rides on a chopped Legacy platform and it was mostly developed by Subaru. Celica is a legendary Toyota name, and if it were to come back I would have liked to have seen it come back with sort of high RPM screamer of an inline 4 like the old BEAMS and Altezza 3S-GE engines with Yamaha tuning that they were known for. But alas, it was not to be.
IMO, the LF-A/LFA is the next Supra. I doubt they'll build anything inbetween.

Scion FRS, Toyota 86/GT86 and Subaru BRZ.
All similar with tweaks.

Toyota is a gutless company. Don't even have a car with a V8 in it. Hell, don't even have a car that is RWD.

Yes, they do. They have a several cars that are both RWD and V8...
Anyway, the FRS is (or will be) more expensive than the Mustang and Genesis Coupe. You aren't going to shoe-horn in AWD and an STi engine into and magically drop the price of it.

Just went to TOYOTA.COM. Nope, no RWD or V8 cars. They have some "trucks" but no cars.

This Toyota will be RWD, but as for RWD V8s, I don't think they ever sold anything that fits the bill, unless you're talking Lexus.

Toyota has whored out the name Celica to a FWD econobox several times... They haven't had a decent Celica since the 80s.
I think it would make sense for them to revive it on a nice RWD car... even if it is a Subaru.
Since when is having a V8 powered car a benchmark for being a great car company?

I'm glad Toyota is finally going back with its RWD cars. The AE86 is a very cool car.
