There was a (UK) Top Gear special from China and they showed various clones that had been built, including a BMW X5.
BMW lost the lawsuit claim against them.

Didn't you ever see a picture of an entire Chinese family riding on a Chinese clone of a Honda 90 motorcycle that has all of 7 H.P.?

The Chinese have been cloning military weapons/vehicles for decades. It looks like they're getting good at civilian applications as well!

The real sad part is that some American entrepreneur will import them and those buyers who only care about buying cheap will scoff them up by the thousands, just like they do with all the other Chinese crap they buy.

Only the headlights and taillights of that one actually looks like an F-150, but the other one looks EXACTLY like a Chevy Colorado (with a blue oval).

All manufacturers try to incorporate what is successful in the marketplace and this is not different than what is done everywhere in the world. They did not take a Ford apart and reproduce the parts, they were simply inspired by the best selling vehicle in the world. Good move on their part... nothing was stolen.

Oh c'mon. There may be a fine line between inspiration and ripoff, but the Ford and GM-"inspired" JAC truck designs are well onto the "ripoff" side of the ledger.

No, because they will not pass American safety and emissions standards. That is what has prevented the prior sales of Chinese cars in the US from occurring. Too expensive to implement necessary changes for US market.
Not saying it won't happen in the future, but it has stopped it so far.
