I just drove 1000 miles each way on a trip with my new Ford Explorer. As I went I started hearing a clicking sound coming from the dash board. I thought it was on the passenger side and my wife said the driver side. As the trip went on it became louder. Now that I am home it has, of course, disappeared. The car is going in for service tomorrow and my bet is that we will not be able to find it.
Has anyone else had a similar problem?
What was it?

OK no one, but after Ford Checked there was air coming in around the windshield. Apparently there are enough complaints about this with the Explorer and Edge that they have issued a warning to Dealers
That's good that you got that cleared up. I find that Ford does seem to have noise interiors. My Ranger has some dash rattles, I think it is because everyone uses cheap plastic nowadays.

The Ranger is a crude, poorly assembled vehicle. I would not use it to draw conclusions about Ford in general.
Our 2008 Fusion is relatively quiet and rattle free.

What's the difference between cheap plastic and expensive plastic?
Anyways, my old '02 Explorer was pretty quiet, even though there were many other problems.

There is a difference between cheap and expensive plastic!
Cheap plastic is usually hard and stiff. That means when a panel is loose, it rattles and makes noise. A flexible plastic piece can be assembled tighter because of flex, and makes less noise.

Exactly, they replaced the moulding that held the windshiled in place.
I suspect it sat on a lot in Phoenix for a week or two before I bought it.
The sun can be a killer here
I can't believe people are still buying Fords, especially the Explorer--they roll over left and right.
Those were the 91-01 models. The new ones wouldn't roll over any more than any other SUV/crossover.
