First car was an 83 Hurst Olds. Bought it for practically nothing. I want to say something like $500 maybe less. Body was perfect but the drivetrain was a mess.

A family friend gave my dad a deal on her in 87 because he didn't have a car when I was born. I don't know the history before that except for she was a Texas truck. I am never getting rid of her, the one thing I hear from most car guys is about a car they had when they were young that they wish they never got rid of. I don't want to let that happen to me. I hope that when my time comes there will be someone in my life to pass her down to that will appreciate her. By that time she'd be well over a hundred years old, hopefully.

First car was a '54 Chevy that I got for $300 in '60 before I was old enough for a license. I loved that car and fixed it up beautifully -- candy apple red, rolled and pleated interior... just super nice.

Manderly, that's a Grand Wagoneer. (Cherokees were smaller.) I had an '86 Grand Wagoneer -- worst car I've ever owned. It cost me $34K new, and I traded it after about four months and a dozen trips to the dealership for various repairs.

1959 Chevrolet stepside pickup, $200. It had an inline 6, floor starter button, and a manual 3 on the tree. Wish I still had it.
