You are trying to compare these cars to a Honda....people buy cars like these because they dont want to drive a Honda. You are correct Honda is very reliable but I would never buy one because they are cookie cutter cars that to me are very boring.

Like mentioned before you dont sound like much of a car enthusiast, however, if you can spend up 50k to buy a base model vette, why not buy a GT500 Mustang instead? Its "classier" then a GT and you wont have to "baby" it as you said because its not a vette. What about an SRT8 Challeger?

As you can tell from my name I am partial to Mustangs but Mustang, Corvette, Challeger...just glad you not shopping for another Japanese import.

If Honda built a car that was as supposedly reliable as an Accord, but performed like a Vette, it would be $100K. Factor in all the recalls Toyota has had, and I don't see that relative reliability is an issue.

You need to first decide if you want a sports car or a Grand Touring car. They are two different cars, with different pros and cons.

When buying used, you need to consider the type of vehicle you're buying. For instance, if you were looking for a GTO, you could buy mine, which is low mile, perfectly maintained, excellent condition, with very little racing time on it. OTOH, you could a friend's car, which has 100's of drag strip runs, which have beaten the car mostly to death. If you drove hers you'd think GTOs are all junk. Mine would leave you with a different opinion. GT Mustangs are more likely to be owned by a younger driver who beats on the car more often. Vettes are usually owned by more mature drivers, and they are seldom drag raced.

I compare them with Honda only on the aspect of reliability. I wish Honda could make a sports car under $50K because I'd just buy one and be done with it.

Im a bad person to give advice because I dont mind keeping up with maintenance if its a car I like. Reliability and fuel mileage isnt always on the top of my list when it comes to buying cars either. I need to love the car I drive or I get bored with it. Im kinda car obsessed.

Dont like imports..new ones anyways, but why not look into a Nissan 370Z. Youd have the sports car and the reliability factor. Id drive a Nissan anyday over a Honda. Ive owned many Nissans in the past without any problems at all.

Unfortunately the 370Z's quality is similar to Mustang or Vette. :-(
