Ok guys and gals,..I'm interested in knowing what was your first car,...mainly hot rods you owned, or was bought for you as a 1st vehicle,...I'll start off,..a 1974 Chevy Vega with a 327 small block,...had alot of fun in that car... my mom purchased it for me as a graduation gift, bless her heart,...(ok,..it didn't have the 327 in it when she purchased it )
'67 Galaxie 500, 2-door in canary yellow w/a <koff> modified 390, eight aces stuffed into the hood scoop, quick-change rear end an' a 30-gallon auxillary gas tank in the trunk for runnin' interstates when I was in the service. Ran 60-series Mickey Thompson cheaters in the rear, and 50's in the front. That was back in the day when low-profile, wide tires were pretty uncommon.
There's a few state troopers 'tween here an' Virginia that'd still like another shot at it, ah imagine.....

My first hot rod? depends on how you want to look at it...
My first fast car was a 1971 Nova 2 door, red on black with a black vinyl top, that had a 350 V8, a 4 bbl, dual exhaust and a 4 speed manual. It wasn't stock but it was built. Probably a 13 second 1/4 mile car.
Next was a 1984 S-10 that had a 350 V8 installed into it. Base model that was 2500 lbs from the factory; the V8 added about 200 on the nose, but still made for a real cheap fast vehicle. 13 second 1/4 mile truck if you could get it to hook.
Next was a 1971 Chevelle 2 door, red on black that I built a 396 for it. Add 4.10 posi and a 3000 stall it made for a nice street machine.
Now I have a 1987 T type Regal with a 24 psi boosted turbo V6 that does all of what my old rods could do and more.

back in the day my friend had a Pinto w/ a 351 that I drove/ran on the street. Ohhhh that little car was a handful, and held it's own at the lights. So i know the fun you had in yours lol.
But to original question, my first car in 1977 was a '66 Chevelle w/ 327. Not a bad car to learn how to drive on, and on the back roads in WI we found out exactly what that little 327 could handle. Turns out that's a LOT of abuse
1967 Chevelle. Blown 572, 10% overdriven, 22" Mickey Thompsons, tubbed, full cage, Doug Nash 5-speed, 9" Detroit locker, 4-link with panhard, fuel cell, centerlines, etc. I should have bought stock in Autometer. The only real give-away that it wasn't original was the thing sticking out of the hood, or viewing the vehicle from behind (the rear end was only 44" wide).
Runs great in any direction, as long as it is straight ahead
Gets a solid 5 MPG.
I think that project was called "How I wasted 2000 hours of my life".

amen, my first was a '74 . not the fastest by a mile but the previous owner had extended the back seat to make it deeper by taking out the bench and rebuilding . again the car wasn't fast but the girls were .

If I take a picture, I will post it.
i'd love to see a pic of that car--after all these years i still think the 66/67 Chevelle is one of the sharpest muscle cars ever designed. Just one of those cars that when you see a good version, it just floods the memories...
