The best looker is unfortunately Audi in this market. Even if you get into an A4, it will be an upgrade from the TL. If you want a diesel go with A3 (wagon i know) else go for a pre-owned S4 or A6.
I could probably afford a CTS-v, but I could not bring myself to spend that kind of money. I could buy a G-8, an SHO, or a Charger for about 30K less and go out and buy three investment homes with the savings. Within a few years (8-10) the investment homes would be generating postive cash flow and the car will be worn out, or nearly so.
While slightly better performance, air conditioned seats and wood grain panels have some value, I just do not see the added benefit is anywhere near the added cost.

Are you assuming that the G8, SHO, and Charger are better alternatives to the CTS-V in that they are all of comparable quality, yet the Caddy unjustifiably costs more ?!?!?!?
