Im in Ohio i recently just came off a 12 point suspension. I got suspended for 2 driving under suspension charges. My license was initially suspended because i faled to pay a seat belt ticket in Cuyahoga Falls. So i have paid all of my fines plus the reinstatement fees but the BMV is saying that i need a SR22 bond. I don't have a car at the moment so all i want to is to get my license back. I called around to quotes and most places want $69 to $79 a month just for the bond. Anyone else find this ridiculous that i have to pay $69 a month just to maintain a license?

No I don't. You screwed up. If you want to drive you need to adhear to the rules. You didn't pay a fine, your license was suspended... You were caught driving with a suspeneded lincense further adding to your headache. Now you whining because you're forced to pay SR22.

If you would have paid the first fine, you woudn't have the problems. Instead of blaming others, why not own up and learn your lesson already. There is no one to blame for your problems except yourself.

A DUI charge is very different then a seat belt or driving under suspension charge. Your logic fails.

Break law -> Pay price

Dont want to pay price -> Don't break law

The incongruities are amusing. No, again, you paid after you were pinched twice for driving with a suspended license. If you would have paid instead of neglecting the first seatbelt ticket, your license would not have been suspended. It is moot, if it is seatbelt or DUI... Both are enforceable laws.

The ridiculous tax you assert sounds more like a voluntary tax on fools who can’t or won’t pay their fines until they compound.

Gotta love people like you, you willfully and knowingly violated the law 3 times and got caught, then you whine because you have to pay out the wazoo to get your driving privileges back. At some point you need to grow up and take some responsibility. The fact that you're here complaining indicates you're not to that point yet.

That seat-belt ticket has become really expensive. No sympathy here either.

Also, a SR22 bond is really high-risk insurance so it isn't just to have your license it is also liability insurance.
