Lots of organizations do a great job of offering track days for the average enthusiast. Usually the local BMW, Porsche, Audi, and others sponsor events that are open to all makes. There is usually a schedule for different classes of drivers from novice to experienced and a set of rules for each class.
These events generally cost from $100 to $300 per day (I used to run with a group that charged about $280 for two days) offering each class three to five 20 to 30 minute sessions per day.
Since there will be a car inspection, limited classes and instruction, course marshal, corner workers, on-site ambulance and wrecker, on top of paying the track owners, it is expensive to run these events.
This is a great way to put your car through the paces and have fun. I did it for years but it is not cheap (go through a lot of tires, brakes, fuel, etc.) so I am now back to street only driving.
Thankyou for the useful information. 300$ a day is more within my budget or a logically budget.
1,000$ - 10,000$ a day is ridiculous if I went racing 4 times a month I would spend anywhere from 52,000$ to 520,000$ year.
If you don't have any road race track experience you are not going to settle anything with your friends except maybe who did the most body damage.
