This idea of the new Honda CR-V having a camera on the side mirror assembly is really appealing. It is meant to extend the drivers view of the right lane 'blind spots'. Does anyone know if this will be offered on more brands and models in 2016? I would like to get a small SUV with this feature, but find that the Honda, like most of the 2015 vehicles has such poor visibility out the rear window in general. I'd love it on a Subaru.
And that is another question (rhetorical)--will rear windows ever become taller so that we can actually see what's behind us? I can imagine 20 years into the future that we will have no side or back windows, just cameras and computer screens. (Hope not!)
These cameras are cool, but I don't think they will be ever standard. I do struggle sometimes guaging how close cars are on my right/left side.
I do have a rear camera with my 2015 Corolla, I love it I can reverse with my mirrors all frozen and keep driving with frozen windows, plus I can get extremely close to other cars without hitting them.
My Mazda puts a little warning light in the side mirror and beeps if you put your signal on when something is in the blind spot. I think anyone than that, like a camera, would just be annoying.

EyeSight is on version 2. I think it will be standard technology in the next 5-10 years as it even gets better. Backup cameras will be standard by 2018. I have one on my car and it's worthless after driving in snow/crap. Either hide it like VW does or have an automatic way of cleaning it like Ford is coming out with on the '16 Explorer.
Ask anyone that's backed up over a child and killed them, I bet they wish they had a backup camera/backup warning system.
